  • Jury Duty

So, last year I got summoned for Jury Duty the first year after I moved to Wisconsin.  I ended up serving on a jury, and it wasn't as bad of an experience as I had thought.  Ironically, I served on this jury one month before I was going to be moving to a new state.  All the fellow jurors were joking and laughing about the fact that the county had got me for that in the short time that I was living there.  They then made the comment that as soon as I moved to another state I would probably get summoned again.  We all had a good laugh thinking that I wouldn't really be so unlucky as to actually have that happen.
I was wrong!  Today I got my summons for jury duty in 2010.  Now I just have to hope that the fact that I just served on a jury this year will get me excused.

  • Who reads this?

So, when I look at my footprints, I notice a lot of visits from Michigan.  Which makes me curious about who is actually checking my blog.  I figured that I'm so boring that all of my friends would have quit by now.  So if you're someone that I know, tell me.  Then maybe I'll start writing stuff that you will actually enjoy reading.

  • GM can't afford wrenches?

The other day my husband and I took my car in to the GM dealer for an oil change and tire rotation.  After sitting there for a while a guy comes over and says that they are having a problem with my tires and might have to break something.  So we go back to look at it.  Here's the thing, our Oldsmobile has these odd little plastic lug nut covers.  Usually, you spin them off and no problem.  For some odd reason, they spin off, exposing a yellow plastic cap that should have come off.  I look and think, hey no problem.  Break out a breaking bar with a socket and wrench it off.  But behold, the GM Guy had an impact wrench and kept saying that there was nothing small enough to "Impact" it off.

So my husband asks, "Do you have a wench to pull it off?"  Naturally the guy should have said, "Sure, let's go take a look.  We are a Goodwrench shop.  We have plenty of wrenches and sockets."  Unfortunately, that's not what he said.  He just looked dumbfounded and said, "We don't have any thing small enough for our Impact Wrenches."  Then the gears start turning and we figured out this guy is missing a few things.  Perhaps he knows how to put a clutch assembly back together with all of the precision tools out of the GM Tech Manual.  But to improvise, can't do that!  So my question to you GM, did you sell off all of your dealer's wrenches in your bankruptcy to pay for Rick Wagner's fat golden parachute?

    The best Sims game ever!

I got the Sims 3 last night, and although I haven't gotten to play it for that long yet, I am convinced it is the best game yet.  The most amazing part about it is that it runs better than Sims 2.  The initial load time takes only half the time as the last games, and once your in the game, there are no load times.  It does feel a little slower when your moving around the town, but even that part isn't as bad as the previous games were.
I love the all of the traits that you can choose from when you create your sims.  They effect how easily your sim can learn to do things, so if you choose "natural cook" for one of your traits, the sim will gain cooking points faster.  You also get to pick your sim's favorite food, music, and color.  I haven't really seen what effect those have on the game yet, but its fun regardless.
Another new feature in this game is the ability to change their lifespan.  I was excited about this because I always felt that the sims aged too fast before.  It didn't give much time to enjoy playing with them and accomplish lots of goals before they died.  Now you can go into the options and choose how long they will live.  They also don't have to pee all the time, which leaves a lot more time open for getting things done.
There is so much that can be customized in this game.  I won't have to worry about downloading a bunch of recolors of the objects for this game, because you can do most of that from in the game.  It is so much easier than having to edit objects in photoshop then putting them in a downloads folder.  Now all you have to do is click on the object when you buy it, and you can adjust colors and patterns on all parts of the object.  This also applies to clothing and hair, making everything very customizable.
Thats all of the new stuff that I can think of right now.  I'm going to go play the game some more because I am completely addicted to it.
